The Mist review

Last night I finally got to watch The Mist - another Stephen King horror story turned blockbuster movie. Only this time it was a hit, instead of a miss. Watch the trailer here:

The plot: Following a killer electric storm, a strange mist forces a small group of town citizens to band together in a grocery store to avoid the monsters that lurk within it. They must all work together to keep the evil at bay, but when tensions rise between the citizens, everyone must choose sides. Can they all survive through the mist, or will they be doomed to destroy each other?

This was a really good Stephen King film-to-movie. Having well developed characters, a rich plot, and very good conflict, the movie keeps you interested from beginning to end. The main character, a man with a young boy to take care, quickly takes control of the situation in the grocery store, along with another man, Ollie, who works at the store. Things turn badly for them, and others in the store however, when a local resident starts spurting religious beliefs, and turning some of the people in the store against others. Shifting easily between the action/horror from the monsters in the mist, and the conflict rising between the people in the store, The Mist is a very balanced movie. There is also the twist at the end, but I will leave that for you to discover when you view the movie yourself.
